The red yucca plant can be identified by its grass like leaves and pinkish flowers that grow on tall narrow spikes. Red yucca is not a true type of yucca plant and is identified by spineless leaves that turn reddish color in cold weather Adam’s Needle and Thread Yucca Plant ( Yucca Filamentosa) Here are some common types of yucca plants to enhance your garden landscape. Along with their scientific name and descriptions, pictures of yucca plant varieties will help identify them. This article describes some of the most popular yucca plants for growing outdoors or indoors. For example, Adam’s Needle, Dagger Plant, Spanish Bayonet, Aloe Yucca, Needle Palm, and Narrowleaf Yucca are all common names for species of the yucca plant. Unfortunately, it’s rare when indoor species of potted yucca plants flower.Ĭommon names of yucca plants often refer to the type of foliage that grows on the woody stems. Spineless or stick yuccas are ideal for growing indoors as they have soft broad leaves without sharp spines. But due to their sharp leaves, it’s best to plant them away from areas where people or pets frequent.Īs a houseplant, the Yucca elephantipes (spineless yucca / stick yucca) grows in pots in bright sunlight and average room temperatures. In garden landscapes, yucca plants grow as ornamental shrubs and will occasionally flower. All species of yuccas grow in most types of soil, as long as the ground is well-draining and not too rich. Yucca shrubs and trees thrive in dry sandy soil and plenty of sunshine. The huge panicles have bell-shaped creamy-white flowers. Flower stalks rise from the center of the plant and can grow up to 12 ft. One spectacular feature of yuccas is the large cluster of flowers they produce. Some yucca varieties have yellow or white variegation. Yuccas have foliage ranging in color from green to bluish-green. Yuccas can be identified by their distinctive sword-like spiky leaves and their white or whitish flowers growing on stems. Some yucca plants can look like trees because their leaves grow on thick cane stems. Although sometimes called a type of cactus, yuccas are not cacti but are perennial evergreen shrubs and trees in the plant family Asparagaceae. There are nearly 50 species of yucca trees and shrubs. Yucca plants have the appearance of palm trees, so growing them in your backyard or indoors can create a tropical look. Many species of yucca plants are ideal ornamental plants for garden landscapes. Yucca plants are famed for their large, spiky leaves growing on the top of long, thick woody stems. Humans are very visual and animated ads, especially for more abstract products or services, can help a great deal in your brand being remembered. CompositionĪfter the animation is complete, the final step is compositing it all together! Audio, final color and light touchups, timing tweaks, and audio join together and are rendered out as one video and ready to post on social media, your website, or tradeshow!Īnimation is a fun, attention-grabbing way to pull an audience in. Adding flares like follow-through, squash, stretch, and bounce to make everything feel more alive. Place all of the objects in your scene, then roughly animate the items and characters to time out the piece.Īfter everything is accounted for, it is time to revisit each piece and polish all the movement. However, there are basics that traverse over all of them. There are many different processes to use in this stage depending on the animation style chosen. AnimationĪnd now the magic of motion truly begins. The script is revisited if the duration is too long or too short. The final storyboards and script are then sent to a voice actor(s) to record any dialogue or narration that the project needs. Different marks are used on the panels to represent camera motions and movement directions. Panels will be added, taken away or edited and this is where any issues with design can start showing so the concepts can be fixed. Storyboards are where the designs and script come together as one to test the visual flow of the story being told. This is where branding truly starts to take shape. Many sketches will be tossed around, tweaked, edited or completely redrawn in order to get the right look. An artist or group of artists will design characters, objects, locations, anything that needs to be visually represented. Next comes the overall look and feel of the animation. It is common to go through many drafts in this stage before going to visuals since this phase is the easiest to change! Concept Design One page roughly equals one minute, so if you want to keep an animation under 2 minutes, you keep it under 2 pages. Now that the idea has been born, it’s time to flesh it out! Utilizing the film script is usually the easiest way to estimate how long the animation will be. Before the closure, it ran before the fireworks show. It is not a replacement for Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. It opened in 2019 as part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ 30th Anniversary celebration. It all starts with an idea and the drive to start. Wonderful World of Animation is a projections show that many Walt Disney World guests don’t know about. Did you know that we here at Fuzzy Duck use the same process in our animations? It’s true! We may not make movie-length features (yet) but that doesn’t mean the process of animation is any less robust! The Idea Animation is eyepopping and draws attention, no matter what age you are!Īnimation isn’t reserved for just the big companies. This evening spectacular will takes guests through 90 years of Disney and Pixar Animation and MickeyBlog is there Image Credit: Disney. We marvel at the process they’ve created that takes fantastical stories, characters, and locations out of what seems like, thin air. We all enjoy the lovely cinematics of animated movies from places like Pixar, Disney, and Dreamworks. But I did like the countdown arrow going around in a square, giving you pretty much the perfect timing. Obviously, this gets harder and harder as the game goes on. Playing the game is the usual style of right button, right time. Project DIVA X is driven forward through a narrative which centres on Miku and her friends undertaking various requests as they explore the five Clouds that make up their world. Review: For those who are new to this series of games, Project DIVA is a music rhythm game (press the right button, at the right time) starring a digital singer called Hatsune Miku. Moreover, the auras of the 30 new and classic songs they perform, and the nearly 300 modules (costumes) they’ll wear, will have an important impact on the many different challenges. For me, I’ll keep on with the annual releases.Description: In Project DIVA X, players help Miku and her friends sing and dance their way through five Clouds that comprise their world! Each Cloud has its own unique aura - Classic, Cool, Cute, Elegant, and Quirky - that will offer different challenges for players to fulfil. If VR means that much to you, this may be worth your time. One last consideration – there are concert DVDs and BluRay released yearly for Miku tours and I import them for the same price as this game. It didn’t stop me dancing around to the vocaloid beat though. It is a nice to have, not a must have and so I have to score it appropriately. It is a fun addition but very, very lightweight on any technical skill required. This will in turn launch stage effects for you and change costumes for the singers at key points. The only gameplay here is to shake your move controller to the beat and follow the crowd. Project Diva X offers VR and gameplay where as this is like a concert experience at home. Technically excellent, VR Future Live just isn’t essential. It kind of made me ask what the point of this was. Slightly more annoying is that there is a large crossover between the songs here and the ones in Project Diva X, which has its own VR mode with stage performances already. Packs 2 and 3 bring out the other vocaloids as Miku is the only one included in the original. Then you’ll get the seventh song as an encore. For each concert, you get to choose between two in a nice wave of the hand or head nod for a three song concert. Each pack has seven songs and is largely overpriced. There are three packs, each sold separately or together with a small discount. It is the tunes of choice where the experience is thin though. It also allows you to see different things as you bop around to the tunes of choice. The audio changes depending on where you are and its a great touch. In the experience you can choose different locations to stand, including on or above the stage as well as in the crowds. The audio acoustic effects are superb as noise reverberates around you. VR Future Live absolutely nails the feel and sound of being at a live show. It is a highly niche audience but it is one I am part of and I was very excited to see how the concert turned out.įirstly, the good news. One of the few to do it and make the cross over is Hatsune Miku and her vocaloid gang. Right at the dawn of PSVR, the idea of having a VR concert was an exciting one. Sleep affects almost every type of tissue and system in the body – from the brain, heart, and lungs to metabolism, immune function, mood, and disease resistance. Recent findings suggest that sleep plays a housekeeping role that removes toxins in your brain that build up while you are awake.Įveryone needs sleep, but its biological purpose remains a mystery. In fact, your brain and body stay remarkably active while you sleep. Sleep is important to a number of brain functions, including how nerve cells (neurons) communicate with each other. Without sleep you can’t form or maintain the pathways in your brain that let you learn and create new memories, and it’s harder to concentrate and respond quickly. Quality sleep – and getting enough of it at the right times - is as essential to survival as food and water. If you really need a sleep, make sure that it is less than 40 minutes and before 3pm, otherwise your sleep at night might be disrupted.Sleep is an important part of your daily routine-you spend about one-third of your time doing it. This should not be in your bedroom if possible. Most rest doesn't involve sleeping, and can include sitting quietly or "zoning out," possibly listening to music. There are different types of rest which people find helpful. For anyone with complete day/night reversal, ask for advice from your doctor. You also need to keep your bedtime consistent, so your body gets used to switching off at the same time. Initially, you will probably feel worse because you will be having less sleep, but after a couple of weeks you should be sleeping better at night. Wake up 30 to 60 minutes earlier each day until you are waking up between 7am and 8am. If you do suffer from day/night reversal, then treat it like jet lag. Research has shown that many people who are not exposed to daylight during the day have difficulties sleeping at night, so try and stay awake during the day as much as you can, so that you see plenty of daylight. It is important that your brain gets all the right signals to tell it when it is day and when it's night. and won't help you improve, so try and avoid it if you can. Initially you may feel worse, but after a couple of weeks most people start to feel better.ĭay/night reversal is common in young people with M.E. Aim for between 9 and 11 hours a night, depending on your age, and on what time your friends go to bed and get up (those who have good habits!). If you sleep for too many hours, you will actually have less REM sleep, so sleeping more can actually make things worse. For refreshing sleep, we need plenty of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Research suggests that the more we sleep, the poorer quality sleep we actually have. Keep avoiding anything that will stimulate your brain to stay awake, including screen time. Then go out of the bedroom, and try your wind-down routine again or go and make yourself a warm drink. Lying in your bed tossing and turning would only teach your brain that bed is a place not to sleep, so if you can't get to sleep within 30 minutes, get up. Caffeine is in coffee, tea, soft drinks such as coca cola, energy drinks such as Red Bull, and in chocolate It is also important to avoid anything with caffeine in the afternoon and evening. Whatever you do, try and do the same thing every evening so the brain learns that this routine is associated with sleeping. Gentle music or audio books can be helpful instead. Some books are stimulating and can also wake you up. Try to avoid things that stimulate your brain, such as TV, games (online or otherwise), internet and texting for at least an hour before going to bed. Some people also find lavender oil helps them relax - use small amounts until you know your body can tolerate it. So you might find that a warm bath relaxes you, and a warm drink might help you get off to sleep (milk seems to be helpful if you can take it). This will give your brain more signals to go to sleep. It also helps to have a regular routine before going to bed. So the overall effect should be that when you go into your bedroom, your brain gets lots of strong signals saying "It's time for sleep now". It's also important to try not to sleep in other rooms. This could mean working in another room, or putting away work and screens, including your phone. If this is you, you'll need to help give your brain plenty of signs that say "It's time for sleep now." Doctors call this sleep hygiene.įirstly, the only thing you should do in your bed is sleep – so no homework or watching tablets! If you can, make your whole bedroom (or part, at least) just for sleeping. as many people don't have the usual body signals that help them get off to sleep and stay asleep. Problems with sleep are very common with M.E. There are dozens of costumes to find overall, most of which are well-designed and cosmetically diverse to match their stage. Even in boss fights, the game showers you with keys so you have no trouble picking up the costumes when necessary, forcing the question of why the keys are in the game in the first place. What’s more is that to acquire a costume you have to use a key found around the world, but the game never makes an effort to utilize this concept, so keys are almost always very close to the costume pick-ups. Frequently I ran into the problem of losing a costume I was saving to solve a specific puzzle because I accidentally gathered one I already was wearing. You can only hold up to three costumes at a time, and it frustratingly doesn’t restrict you from holding the same costume more than once. But while the idea behind the costumes is well enough in concept, its execution leaves a lot to be desired. The game’s primary unique offering is its abundance of costumes, which offer different abilities to the wearer to solve puzzles, and which are littered throughout to allow the player the agency to choose which costumes to wear. It all gives off an air of unwavering positivity that’s a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways, but it only does so much to hold up the gameplay. It’s nearly incomprehensible at points, with cutscenes loosely related to the worlds you’ve completed, though the most interesting aspects are the impossible-to-hate showtune-like musical numbers that come after you beat a boss. The opening cutscene portrays your character getting laughed off a basketball court and taken in by a mysterious man in a big top hat, and you’re then transported into this unexplained new world. They don’t always push the limits of the hardware, but the art style is easy enough on the eyes. While they’re diverse in design, they all maintain the same cheerfulness, with consistently bright colors and dancing NPCs. There are twelve cabaret-inspired chapters, each of which contains two stages, a boss, and a third stage unlocked after you complete everything once through. The platforming isn’t as tight or precise as many modern peers of the genre, but if you can tame the often-unpredictable camera, it’s inoffensive enough on its own."Įverything you do in Balan Wonderworld is contextualized with a cheerful story about overcoming inner demons. "In most instances, Balan Wonderworld plays it straight as a 3D platformer challenging you to use the different abilities of the playable character to collect various items hidden around each level and defeat bosses to progress. The platforming isn’t as tight or precise as many modern peers of the genre, but if you can tame the often-unpredictable camera, it’s inoffensive enough on its own. In most instances, Wonderworld plays it straight as a 3D platformer challenging you to use the different abilities of the playable character to collect various items hidden around each level and defeat bosses to progress. Even though it comes from the creator of Sonic, it takes the clearest inspiration from many recent 3D Mario games, most evidently Super Mario Odyssey, and the comparisons are as unflattering as they are inevitable. Immediate comparisons don’t flatter Balan Wonderworld. Its lack of continuity and failed attempts to create a multifaceted experience means that its appeal is far wider than it is deep, and it tries to juggle too many unrelated pieces to ever really find its footing. While the aspects of the game you’d expect to amplify the experience are there in pieces, Balan Wonderworld instead fails on a larger front to create an engaging long-term gameplay loop. On paper, and even in the run up to its release, it seemed like there are a lot of things about it that should give it a jolt of enjoyability, catharsis, and nostalgia for a long history of costume-based platformers, especially as it’s helmed by Yuji Naka, one of the original creators of Sonic. Playing Balan Wonderworld is a lot less entertaining than it should be. Cyber Shadow's music, composed by Enrique Martin and produced by Jake Kaufman, is also quite special. The game's bosses are equally well-designed. It would have been easy for Mekacity's techno-inspired environments to feel cold and sterile, but that isn't the case. The pixel graphics pop off the screen, and it's clear that a lot of effort went into designing the game's world. Gameplay is critical, but Cyber Shadow wouldn't work nearly as well without a strong presentation, and this game is nothing short of gorgeous. In that way, Cyber Shadow truly does feel like it blends the best of old-school gameplay with modern sensibilities. This is totally optional, and old-school purists might prefer avoiding these extras. Taking things a step further, checkpoints allow players to cash in currency accumulated in the game for bonus weapons or the ability to refill their Spirit and Health when they get to the checkpoint. In my interview with Aarne Hunziker, the Cyber Shadow developer stated that he wanted to offer "checkpoints that don't punish dying," and the developer delivered on that promise, offering a wealth of checkpoints that rarely make the game feel cheap or unfair. Unfortunately, the NES era had a lot of games that were artificially difficult, forcing players to repeat the same tasks over and over again because save points were limited or even nonexistent. The latter will work fine, but the former is better for using abilities that combine a directional control with a button press (such as Up + Y for throwing stars).Ī lot of 8-bit throwbacks don't just try to channel the style of old-school video games they also try to channel the difficulty level, as well. I do recommend using a controller with a good D-Pad, as opposed to a control stick. It's very simple, but also quite effective. Further following the 8-bit guidelines, Cyber Shadow uses just two buttons for all actions alongside the D-Pad or control stick. As players progress through the stages, Shadow learns new tricks such as the ability to toss throwing-stars or wall-jump. Cyber Shadow is an action-platformer, tasking players with jumping and slashing through mechanical foes. Like many NES games, however, the story takes a backseat to the gameplay. Mekacity and its futuristic environment give the game a bit of a cyberpunk feel, and it works fairly well at establishing the setting. The game's tale is told through interactions with characters as well as animated cut scenes that pay homage to those seen in the likes of Ninja Gaiden. The wickedness mechanic is similar to the evolution mechanic and therefore while the two can be used simultaneously, it may have unintended effects on game play.In Cyber Shadow, players take on the role of a cyborg ninja named Shadow as he attempts to free his clan from robots that have overrun Mekacity. The artwork on the back of the cards is also different this is unlikely to have a significant effect on game play, but, if the decks are mixed, will inform players what version or expansion the next card to be drawn is from.Īs the monsters are identical to the first edition of Power Up, evolution decks for all of them are present within the expansion. The card deck is an altered version of the base game's card deck, so if the two games are mixed only one should be used to avoid unintended repeats. Compatibility Īs the game utilizes the same rules as the base King of Tokyo, it is compatible with all expansions and promos. As with cards, keep tiles provide a constant power, while discard tiles provide a one-off ability. Wickedness tiles provide additional powers to the monster. Each player can only take one tile per pile, per game. Once a player reaches 3, 6 or 10 on the wickedness track, they can take a tile from the corresponding pile. Victory points are gained as normal, however further dice of the same number do not add any additional wickedness. When resolving dice, a player gains two wickedness for three ones and one wickedness for three twos. The main rules are identical to the base game.ĭark includes the wickedness mechanic. The game features the same monsters as the first edition of the base game Alienoid, Cyber Bunny, Gigazaur, Kraken, Meka Dragon, and The King. The card list was changed, with some cards becoming wickedness tiles instead. The game also includes a new wickedness mechanic, which allows for monsters to power-up. The component pieces are upgraded compared to the base edition, with an embossed board, lightning bolt-shaped energy pieces, and translucent dice. Only one print run was produced with 100,000 copies. The setting is more wicked than ever, and Tokyo is the prize! The legendary King of Tokyo comes to your tabletop in a limited DARK EDITION, where you can discover the dark side of giant monsters clashing.
